SAPA TOKOH | JATIMSATUNEWS.COM: COTONOU, BENIN —Professional football in Benin continues to develop its media organization. As part of the establishment of its ad hoc Media Commission, the Benin Professional Football League (LFPB) has appointed six regional correspondents, including sports journalist Aliou Toundé, who has been designated for the Borgou-Alibori region.

The appointment is set out in Decision No. 037/2026/LFPB/PCG/SE, signed in Cotonou on October 20, 2026, by Joël Debally, Chairman of the LFPB Management Board. The information was reported on October 21 by Beninese sports media outlets Mega Sports and Benin-Sports.

Aliou Toundé: A Media Representative for Borgou-Alibori

Aliou Toundé’s appointment forms part of an initiative aimed at strengthening the media presence of professional football throughout Benin.

As regional correspondent for Borgou-Alibori, he joins a structure designed to bring the League closer to football stakeholders and media professionals operating across the country’s different regions.

The initiative is intended, in particular, to facilitate the circulation of information, improve coverage of the League’s activities, and increase the visibility of competitions among the public.

In a championship where clubs, players, coaches, and local football stakeholders need regular media exposure, regional correspondents can play an important role in connecting developments on the ground with sports media coverage.

Six Correspondents to Cover Benin’s Different Regions

The LFPB decision provides for six regional correspondents responsible for relaying the League’s activities across different parts of Benin.

The announced regional appointments are as follows:

– Atacora-Donga: Nouhoum A. Biaou
– Atlantique-Littoral: Bruno Agassounon
– Borgou-Alibori: Aliou Toundé
– Mono-Couffo: Adrien Amoussou
– Ouémé-Plateau: Edmond Houssessikinde
– Zou-Collines: Élisée Hounkpatin

This regional representation is one of the components of the new ad hoc Media Commission, chaired by Eddy Rabin.

The commission also includes Hamadou Issa, the LFPB representative responsible for communications; Salomon Singbo, representing Ligue 1 clubs; Bienvenu Azoma, representing Ligue 2 clubs; Pascal Hounkpatin, representing the media; Maurice Zounon, responsible for accreditation and press relations; and Claude Djogninou, responsible for match security.

Toward More Structured Media Coverage

Beyond the individual appointments, the establishment of this commission addresses an important challenge: improving the organization of media coverage of Benin’s professional football championship.

Media coordination, accreditation management, stadium access, and relations with clubs are among the areas covered by this structure.

Well-organized media coverage can help raise the profile of clubs, highlight players’ performances, and make competitions more accessible to supporters. It can also improve the flow of information to partners, observers, and other football stakeholders.

For Beninese football, the challenge is to build an environment in which sporting results, local talent, and club initiatives receive regular and professional media attention.

The appointment of regional correspondents is part of this broader objective. Its practical impact will depend on how effectively the commission carries out its responsibilities and how successfully the League, clubs, and media organizations work together.

A New Framework for Collaboration in Beninese Football

With this decision, the LFPB is establishing a structure that brings together communications officials, club representatives, media professionals, and regional correspondents.

For Aliou Toundé, the appointment as regional correspondent for Borgou-Alibori marks his inclusion in this framework for media coverage of professional football in Benin.

The decision comes at a time when the visibility of domestic competitions is an important factor in promoting players, developing clubs, and strengthening the relationship between the championship and its supporters.

The next step will be implementation: ensuring the effective circulation of information, facilitating the work of media professionals, and contributing to more organized nationwide coverage of Beninese football.
